Belfast, United Kingdom^
Belfast
Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland. Although it has a smaller population than Dublin, it is more industrialised. Despite economic and sectarian problems, Belfast will surprise you. It's a constantly lively place, hosting one of the United Kingdom's best arts festivals and many sporting and cultural events. Its museums (particularly the Ulster Museum and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at Cultra) are among the best in the British Isles, and its grand Victorian architecture is splendid. Visit the City Hall and Grand Opera House, Belfast Castle, and the Crown Liquor Saloon. Belfast's fine waterfront setting with many parks and unspoilt countryside just minutes away add to its attractions.
