Berlin

Berlin symbolises both the division and the unity of Germany and Europe. The famous boulevard of Unter den Linden and the Museum Island are where some of the city's incomparable array of museums and galleries are to be found. Beyond the line of the one-time Wall and the Reichstag building is the fashionable shopping street, the Kurfürstendamm, dominated by the ruined tower of the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche. Berlin is a green city, with splendid parks, great tracts of forest, and its own beaches on the shores of the Havel lakes.
